What is the difference between a monolith and microservices, and what suits a small MERN team?
Model answer
A monolith is one deployable application. Microservices split features into separate services that communicate over the network. Microservices add operational cost such as deployment, monitoring and data consistency. A small team usually does better with a well-structured monolith, and splits out a service only when there is a clear reason such as different scaling needs.
