What are threads, processes and asyncio, and when do you use each?

Model answer

Threads suit I/O-bound work with shared memory but are limited by the GIL for CPU work. Processes (multiprocessing) use multiple cores for CPU-bound work. asyncio runs many I/O tasks cooperatively in one thread with async and await, ideal for many network calls. Choose based on whether the work waits on I/O or uses CPU.
