Tell me about a mistake you made at work and what you learned.
Model answer
Pick a real mistake with a limited impact, own it without blaming others, and focus on the fix and the lesson. Structure: what happened, how you noticed and told the right people quickly, what you did to correct it, and what you changed afterwards (a checklist, a test, a review step).
Example: "I once released a change without testing one scenario and it caused errors for a few users. I told my lead immediately, rolled it back within the hour, and added that scenario to our checklist." Interviewers want honesty and growth, not a perfect record.
Tips
- Never claim you have never made a mistake.
