Software Engineer, Operator Tooling
Who we are
About Stripe
Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses.
Millions of companies, from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups, use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead.
That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your career.
About the team
Operator Tooling builds software that helps Stripe’s operations teams spend less time on manual processes and more time on the work that needs their expertise. We tackle some of the ugliest and most challenging workflows inside Stripe, from Money Laundering, to Fraud, to Legal battles. It all comes down to how do we make the trillion dollar engine not just process money, but do it in a way that everyone is safe while doing it.
What you’ll do
You’ll build and improve the platforms Stripe’s operations teams use to manage their work. Working across backend systems, machine learning engines, you’ll turn complex operational needs into reliable tools and integrations, partnering directly with internal users to understand their workflows and improve their experience. To put it easy: we make humans focus on the important work and automate away the noise.
Responsibilities
- Own problems from end to end, managing complexity and working directly with stakeholders to understand business impact, reliability, and operability
- Contribute to the product roadmap, help shape the team’s vision and strategy, and act as a sounding board for team leadership
- Uphold Stripe’s high standards for engineering and product quality
- Mentor newer team members and help them develop their engineering skills
- Work with stakeholders across Stripe to understand competing needs and balance priorities
- Keep our systems running smoothly and scale them with an impact-first mindset
Who you are
We’re looking for someone who is ready to embrace a full ownership, no excuses mentality. You’ll join a team that works like this, so you’ll find yourself surrounded by colleagues who understand your success is also theirs. We’re builders, and we enjoy what we’re building.

- Empathy for internal and external users and a commitment to improving their experience
- Proven ability to integrate different services and processes, including those you haven’t worked with before
