What is a callback, and what is callback hell?

Node.js modules, files and async · Freshers

Model answer

A callback is a function passed to another function to be called later, for example when a file has been read. Nesting many callbacks makes code hard to read and handle errors in, called callback hell. Promises and async/await solve it.
